Cultivating Community Solutions: Strengthening Collaboration and Supporting State Readiness For Community-Rooted Evidence in MCH
Presenter:
Laura Powis (she/her)
Senior Program Manager for Evidence-Based Policy & Practice
Association of Maternal & Child Health Programs (AMCHP)
The maternal and child health (MCH) field increasingly emphasizes the need for evidence-based programs, but what is considered evidence has historically overlooked and undervalued community insights. Uplifting community-rooted evidence (CRE) actively addresses this injustice by valuing insights directly from communities, emphasizing the impact and suitability of programs based on their unique needs. During this session, we will explore community-rooted evidence and its significance in creating tailored and effective public health initiatives. We will also showcase a new AMCHP e-learning module that prepares the public health field to better incorporate CRE into funding and programmatic decisions. We will also share specific recommendations for actions that various roles within a state agency can take to advance CRE in their own sphere.
For in-person attendees. The meeting will be held at the Ohio University
Dublin Integrated Education Center 6805 Bobcat Way, Dublin, Ohio 43016, Room 243
For virtual attendees.
