A Collective Impact Approach to Infant Mortality Reduction in Ohio
For our December Quarterly Meeting we will be hearing from two organizations.
First, Cradle Cincinnati was formed in 2013 as collaboration between health and civic leaders working to reduce infant mortality in Hamilton County, Ohio. Since launching, Cradle Cincinnati’s partners have reduced infant deaths by more than 30%.
In 2020, Hamilton County reached record lows for total infant mortality and for Black infant mortality. Ryan Adcock and Meredith Shockley-Smith, PhD will discuss the issue along with the wide-sweeping partnership that led to these reductions.
Then, Sheronda Whitner, from the Ohio Department of Health will discuss the data, partnerships and collaboration Ohio is using to address infant mortality. She will discuss topics including the Ohio Equity Institute, Ohio Council to Advance Maternal Health, and Eliminating Racial Disparities with the Infant Mortality Task Force.
