The Health Policy Institute of Ohio, a Columbus-based nonprofit organization, seeks a full-time manager to lead the planning of HPIO’s educational events and assist in communications. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Manage HPIO’s forums, webinars and other meetings, working with policy staff to select relevant topics, determining format and identifying and securing speakers
  • Oversee logistics for forums, webinars and other meetings or events
  • Maintain and manage HPIO’s contact database
  • Engage stakeholders by writing compelling announcements and providing clear details regarding forums, webinars and other meetings
  • Collect and analyze evaluations of forums, webinars and other meetings
  • Manage continuing education applications and requests
  • Assist with the acquisition of event sponsorships by communicating with sponsors, sending invoices and answering questions about sponsorship benefits
  • Provide communications support by collaborating with the Vice President of Strategic Communications on:
    • Weekly production of Ohio Health Policy News
    • Updates to HPIO website
    • Layout and design of HPIO print publications
    • Printing of HPIO publications
    • Creating organizational PowerPoint presentations

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong multi-tasking ability and attention to detail
  • Excellent writing skills, as well as verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Interest in public policy, particularly state health policy
  • Proficiency in the use of technology and ability to learn new applications (note that tools used by HPIO include Microsoft Office, Constant Contact and GoToWebinar)
  • Experience working well with a team
  • Some experience working with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) is a plus

Candidates for the Manager of education and communications position should have at minimum a bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of professional experience. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Benefits include health insurance and generous retirement benefits.
