Position: Classified, benefits-eligible based on hours
Hours: 40 hours per week
Salary: Range is $17.53-$27.34 per hour commensurate with experience and skills

Under the general direction of the Health Commissioner, the Health Educator 1 is responsible for developing, conducting and implementing health education programs and performing public relations duties for the health department. Candidate will be expected to facilitate meetings, plan events, write and manage grants, lead the Safe Communities Coalition and manage Safe Communities Grant and perform general administrative duties. Responsibilities will also include updating the agency website and social media sites along with monitoring and analyzing our presence.

• Bachelor's degree with a major in Health Education, School Health Education, Public Health Education, Community Health Education or a degree and coursework which meet the educational requirements set forth by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. to become a Certified Health Education Specialist, or any other related field.
• A valid Ohio driver’s license and maintain a driving record that meets the insurability requirements of the District’s insurance provider.

• One year experience assisting in and/or developing health education programs, or equivalent experience.

Considerable knowledge of a variety of public health policies and health education programs is expected. Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form; use proper research methods to gather data; prepare meaningful, concise and accurate reports; public speaking.
