BA in Psychology and Sociology with an emphasis in Criminology from University of Colorado - Boulder
MPH with Health Behavior Health Promotion specialization from OSU
I've had a long and varied career history that includes having owned my own landscape nursery and design business (certified in landscape design) in upstate New York, managing a ballroom dance studio while competing and teaching ballroom dance, implementing and running a mentoring program for at-risk youth with a goal of keeping them from dropping out of school or being delinquent, and now - being a program coordinator at the Center for Injury Research and Policy at Nationwide Children's Hospital. I am part of the Translational Research team where we work to take research out of the journals and get it into the hands of families so they can better protect their children from preventable injury. My specific project involves creating and managing a centralized website, GrowUpSafe.org, that curates and links to resources, initiatives, and programs in Ohio that focus on preventing injury and targeting trusted providers who work with families to disseminate the information.
Current board position with OSOPHE: Treasurer
Currently I am the treasurer for Ohio SOPHE. I've been a member for 2 years and have found it to be an invaluable experience. I have been able to get to know other people in the field of health education, network, and learn from all sorts of disciplines related to health. It also helps to keep me current in my professional development and abreast of information regarding subject areas that are not part of my job and that I might otherwise not learn about. It's also a very nice, fun group of people. The regular sharing of available jobs throughout the state has also been useful and I have had the opportunity to pass along the information to several people.
